How To Deal With Dorsalgia

How To Deal With Dorsalgia, AKA, Back Pain

Whether you have strained your back doing something active, worked too much, or if it all simply boils down to old age, at one point or another, practically everybody has suffered through back pain, some more serious than others.  So if you too have had this problem, here are some ways on how to deal with Dorsalgia, aka, back pain.

As long as your condition is nothing too serious, these 5 tips are sure to do the trick.

1.  Get some rest.

2.  Exercise

3.  Hot and cold compress

4.  Massage  5.  Medication

Get Some Rest

Just like any other body part, when something is definitely wrong, a rather obvious solution would be for you to get some rest.  But dealing with back pain is a little different - the key word here is SOME rest.  If you stay in bed too long, you could actually add to the pain.  So what you do is to take a little breather for a couple of minutes, lie down in bed, then get up shortly, and do a couple of stretches.

Exercise

Quite the opposite of the first tip, keeping active is another way to relieve your back pain.  Strange as it may sound, when your back is starting to be a problem, you need to start focusing on a little more exercise.  You do not want to do anything too strenuous though.  Walking is probably one of the best things you can do.  However, in case you find this to be too uncomfortable, then swimming is the better option- heck, or you can even walk up and down the pool if you like.  Just be sure to do some stretching before you begin.

Hot and Cold Compress

When dealing with back pain, you can also try to use a hot and cold compress.  Which one works better actually all depends on you.  Hot therapy is great to increase the blood flow in certain areas while cold therapy is known to reduce the swelling and muscle spasms.  So if you are not sure which one will actually work for you, there is always trial and error.

Massage

Getting  massage is probably one of the best ways to relieve back pain.  It is true that here is nothing quite like it.  I mean getting a massage does wonders on just about any tired old body, an aching back is not an exception.  So you can run down to your local spa whenever the pain starts, but that can be quite a hassle.  You can have someone give you a massage.  But this too can be a problem.  You can’t get one at work, your partner might have had a long day too, or there is just nobody available to do so.  So getting a back massage cushion seems to be the perfect solution - you’ll end up saving money, you won’t need anybody else to be around, you can have one even when you are behind your desk in your office.  Plus, these babies really do work like a charm.

Medication

If the pain really is starting to get to you, there are a couple of over the counter pills that you can take.  But for more serious cases, you really should go to see your doctor and let him prescribe what is best.  This, however, should be the last resort when all else fails.

These 5 tips on how to deal with Dorslagia, aka, back pain are bound to work for you.  So why not give a try and finally relieve that aching back of yours from that uncomfortable pain.
